Ericsson RDH-series optical transceivers

Ericsson RBS base stations and RRUs use CPRI optical links between baseband and radio units, and the RDH-coded SFPs that carry that traffic are a recurring spare-parts request — usually a specific CPRI-rate module for an RRU installation or a straight fibre-link SFP for the transport side. Several RDH parts are rated for extended industrial temperature, reflecting their outdoor RRU-facing use.

How to read these part numbers

RDH 102-prefixed parts cover both CPRI (radio-to-baseband) and standard Ethernet SFP applications — the technical attributes on each line state which. The trailing /1, /2, /3 suffix marks reach, rate or temperature-rating variants of the same base part; RDH 102 65/3, for example, is rated -45°C to +85°C for outdoor RRU mounting where /2 of the same family is not. RDH901002/1 is a tri-speed copper SFP for management or lower-rate Ethernet ports.

Ordering notes

State whether the port is a CPRI link (baseband-to-RRU) or a standard Ethernet/transport port, since Ericsson uses overlapping SFP form factors for both and the wrong rate will not link. Confirm outdoor or indoor mounting if temperature rating matters for your installation. Condition is stated per quotation — new, new-surplus or refurbished — and where a destination does not admit used network equipment (Algeria is the usual example) we quote new. Hardware only: software licensing remains between the buyer and the manufacturer. Destination type approval and import permits (CST/SABER, TDRA, ICASA, CA, CMC, ARPCE) are the buyer's responsibility and we will say so on the quotation.

Lifecycle and availability

RDH-series SFPs remain in production alongside current Ericsson RBS and RAN Compute hardware and are sourced new in most cases; older CPRI-rate variants tied to discontinued baseband generations are increasingly surplus-only.

Equipment condition

New — factory-sealed, supplied through the manufacturer's authorised channel or an authorised distributor, with full manufacturer warranty.

New surplus — unused factory stock, original packaging where available, sourced from decommissioned projects or distributor inventory. Manufacturer warranty may have lapsed; CRS PLUS warranty applies.

Refurbished / tested — previously deployed equipment, cleaned, firmware-checked and functionally tested against the manufacturer's specification before shipment. CRS PLUS warranty applies.

Condition is confirmed in writing on every quotation before you commit to an order.

Where equipment is supplied new through an authorised channel, the manufacturer's warranty applies and is passed to you.

Frequently asked questions

Common Public Radio Interface — the optical link protocol between an Ericsson baseband unit and its remote radio units. A CPRI-rated SFP will not necessarily work correctly in a standard Ethernet transport port even if it physically fits, so confirm the port type before ordering.
