Telecom site power
Tower Power Kits for solar-hybrid telecom sites
CRS PLUS supplies three standard 48V DC power configurations for base-station and tower sites in the Middle East: a rural single-sector site, a three-sector 4G/5G macro site, and a grid-connected urban site. Each kit combines the PV array, MPPT solar charge control, rectifier shelf, lithium battery, outdoor cabinet, distribution and site monitoring in a single order, with order-conformity inspection, documentation and delivery to port or site. Every kit is sized to the site's measured load, sun hours, grid availability and autonomy requirement before it is quoted.
Kit configurations
Reference configurations. Each kit is adjusted to the load, sun hours and autonomy requirement of the site, and the final configuration is confirmed on the quotation.

TPK-1 · Rural 1-sector 4G site
Off-grid site with a small radio load. Solar and the lithium battery carry the site, and the generator recharges the battery when its state of charge falls, so it runs in short, efficient cycles rather than continuously. Typical use: rural coverage sites, greenfield sites without a shelter, and diesel-to-solar retrofits that keep the existing generator.

| PV array | 3 kWp · 6 × 550 W modules · pole or ground-mount racking rated for exposed sites |
| Solar charge control | 60 A MPPT, 48V, temperature-compensated charging |
| Rectifier system | 200 A outdoor shelf · 2 × 3 kW modules (N+1) · AC input for generator or grid |

| Monitoring | Site controller with SNMP over GPRS / 4G · door, temperature, smoke and mains-fail alarms |
TPK-3 · 3-sector 4G/5G site
Full macro site with three sectors and microwave backhaul. Solar supplies a large share of daytime energy, and the generator runs in a narrow, efficient band to recharge the battery instead of running continuously; the resulting reduction in generator hours depends on load, sun hours and battery size and is estimated in the offer. Typical use: macro sites, sites with 5G or multi-band radio upgrades, and towerco diesel-reduction programmes.

TPK-G · Urban solar + grid site
Grid-connected site with intermittent supply. Solar offsets daytime grid consumption and the battery carries the site through grid interruptions; battery capacity is sized to the outage profile, and a generator input is retained where outages are long or frequent. Typical use: urban and peri-urban sites, and programmes to reduce or remove standby generators.

PV sizing by sun hours
Starting point for a 5 kW solar-hybrid site. Arrays for hybrid operation are sized at roughly 1.5 to 2 times the average site load; fully off-grid sites without a generator need a substantially larger array and battery.
| Region | Peak sun hours | PV for a 5 kW load |
|---|---|---|
| High irradiance (desert interiors, Arabian Peninsula interior) | 6+ | 8–9 kWp |
| Typical sunbelt sites | 5–6 | About 10 kWp |
| Moderate irradiance | 4–5 | 12–14 kWp |
| Low irradiance | Under 4.5 | Array +20–40%; wind hybrid assessed |
How a kit is sized
Each kit starts from the measured site load — average and peak — together with peak sun hours at the site, grid availability where there is a grid, the required battery autonomy and the generator already in place. The PV array, MPPT rating, rectifier capacity and battery are then sized together, so that the rectifiers can carry the load and recharge the battery at the same time when the generator or grid is running.
Two derating factors are built into every design: dust, which can reduce PV output by 15–25% over a dry season, and high ambient temperature, which lowers the safe lithium charge voltage and capacity. Both are reflected in the array size and the controller settings specified with the kit.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Can a kit be adjusted to my site?
Yes. The three kits are reference configurations. Each is resized to the measured load, peak sun hours, grid availability and battery autonomy of the site before it is quoted, and individual components can be substituted to match equipment already in service.
How much PV does a telecom site need?
For solar-hybrid operation with a generator or grid, arrays are typically sized at 1.5 to 2 times the average site load — about 10 kWp for a 5 kW site with 5 to 6 peak sun hours. Sites with fewer sun hours need a larger array, and fully off-grid sites without a generator need substantially more PV and battery capacity.
Why lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries?
LiFePO4 tolerates the deep daily cycling of a solar-hybrid site far better than lead-acid, keeps its capacity at higher temperatures, and its BMS reports state of charge over RS485 or CAN so the site controller can start and stop the generator on actual battery condition.
Can the kit use our existing generator and rectifier shelf?
Yes. The generator interface starts and stops an existing generator on battery state of charge, and where a Huawei or Vertiv rectifier shelf is already installed, matching 3 kW-class modules are supplied for it instead of a new shelf.
How are the lithium batteries shipped?
As Class 9 dangerous goods, with the UN 38.3 test summary and safety data sheet, packaged and declared for the chosen mode of transport. Delivery is quoted DAP port or site, or EXW on request.
