Huawei NE40E, CX600 and ATN router hardware and S-series switches

Huawei switching and routing is the second family after optics that buyers in our markets actually search for by name, and the demand splits cleanly. Enterprises, ISPs and integrators want S5720, S5731 and S5735 access switches and CloudEngine data-centre switches, usually in quantity for a site build. Operators want NE40E and CX600 line cards, NE8000 chassis and ATN 910 and 950 cell-site gateways, usually one at a time when something fails or a ring is extended. How to read these part numbers

Switch model numbers describe the box. S5720-28X-SI-AC reads as series 5720, 28 ports, X for 10GE uplinks, SI for the software feature tier (LI, SI, EI, HI in ascending order), AC for the power supply. P or PWR indicates PoE. CloudEngine CE6850-48S6Q-HI reads as 48 SFP+ ports and 6 QSFP+ ports. Router names give chassis and slot count — NE40E-X8 has eight line-card slots — with the card population ordered separately. ATN numbers give the platform tier: 910 is a cell-site gateway, 950 an aggregation node. The eight-digit 02-series code is the ordering reference where one is quoted.

Ordering notes

For switches state the exact model string including feature tier and power variant, the quantity, and whether you need the licence-bearing software version. For routers state the chassis, the line cards and their slots, the software release and the interface count. For ATN give the exact model and the ring configuration it joins. Huawei enforces board and release dependencies on routers; we confirm before quoting. Condition is stated per quotation — new, new-surplus or refurbished — and where a destination does not admit used network equipment (Algeria is the usual example) we quote new. Hardware only: software licensing remains between the buyer and the manufacturer. Destination type approval and import permits (CST/SABER, TDRA, ICASA, CA, CMC, ARPCE) are the buyer's responsibility and we will say so on the quotation.

Lifecycle and availability

S5720 is end-of-sale and supplied new-surplus or refurbished; S5731, S5735, S6730 and CloudEngine remain current and are sourced new. NE40E-X series remains in production; NE8000 is current. ATN 910C and 950B remain widely available. Software licensing for any Huawei network element remains between the buyer and Huawei.

Equipment condition

New — factory-sealed, supplied through the manufacturer's authorised channel or an authorised distributor, with full manufacturer warranty.

New surplus — unused factory stock, original packaging where available, sourced from decommissioned projects or distributor inventory. Manufacturer warranty may have lapsed; CRS PLUS warranty applies.

Refurbished / tested — previously deployed equipment, cleaned, firmware-checked and functionally tested against the manufacturer's specification before shipment. CRS PLUS warranty applies.

Condition is confirmed in writing on every quotation before you commit to an order.

Warranty terms vary by item, by condition and by the supplier the equipment is sourced from. They are stated in writing on the quotation, per line item, before you commit to an order.

Where equipment is supplied new through an authorised channel, the manufacturer's warranty applies and is passed to you.

Frequently asked questions

Software feature tier. EI adds fuller Layer-3 routing and stacking features over SI. The hardware is otherwise similar, and the tier is fixed at purchase, so specify it rather than assume.
