HPE Aruba and FlexNetwork SFP and SFP+ transceivers
HPE networking runs on two switch families with two separate optics catalogues: Aruba (ArubaOS-Switch and Aruba CX, part numbers beginning J) and the FlexNetwork range inherited from H3C (Comware, part numbers beginning JD). A module coded for one family is not interchangeable with the other, so an enquiry needs the exact part number rather than a description. This page lists the SFP and SFP+ optics and direct attach cables most requested for both families, including the current D and E revisions and the earlier HP X121, X132 and X242 codes they replace.
How to read these part numbers
Aruba codes carry a revision letter after the base number. J4858D replaces J4858C, J9150D replaces J9150A, and J9151E replaces J9151A: the optical specification is the same, the coding and supported-platform list are current. Older switches generally accept both revisions; current Aruba CX releases support only the newer letters, so check the platform before ordering the previous generation. J4858 and J4859 are 1 Gbit/s SFP (SX multimode and LX single-mode), J9150 and J9151 are 10 Gbit/s SFP+ (SR and LR), J8177D is the copper SFP for RJ45 ports, and J9281 / J9283 are 1 m and 3 m direct attach cables.
JD-prefixed codes belong to HPE FlexNetwork (Comware) switches: JD092B is the X130 10G SFP+ SR, JD118B and JD119B the X120 1G SFP SX and LX.

Ordering notes
Quote the exact part number including any suffix, the switch or router platform and its software release, and the quantity. State whether you require the original manufacturer's module or will accept a correctly coded compatible module; we quote both and mark which is which, never one as the other. For BiDi optics order the two ends as a pair; for DACs and AOCs give the exact length. Condition is stated per quotation — new, new surplus or refurbished — and where a destination does not admit used network equipment we quote new. Destination type approval and import permits are the buyer's responsibility and are noted on the quotation. For Aruba, name the switch series (2930F, 2930M, 3810M, 5400R, 6300, 6400, 8320, 8360) and whether it runs ArubaOS-Switch or AOS-CX.
Lifecycle and availability
The D and E revisions (J4858D, J4859D, J8177D, J9150D, J9151E, J9281D, J9283D) are current and sourced new. The C, A and B revisions are end-of-sale and increasingly supplied as new surplus or refurbished. JD-series FlexNetwork optics remain widely deployed in Comware networks and are sourced new and new surplus. CRS PLUS is an independent broker and is not an HPE or Aruba partner.
Equipment condition
New — factory-sealed, supplied through the manufacturer's own channel or a qualified distributor, with full manufacturer warranty.
New surplus — unused factory stock, original packaging where available, sourced from decommissioned projects or distributor inventory. Manufacturer warranty may have lapsed; CRS PLUS warranty applies.
Refurbished / tested — previously deployed equipment, cleaned, firmware-checked and functionally tested against the manufacturer's specification before shipment. CRS PLUS warranty applies.

Where equipment is supplied new through the manufacturer's own channel, the manufacturer's warranty applies and is passed to you.

Frequently asked questions
Is J9150D the same as J9150A?
Same optical specification — 10GBASE-SR, 850 nm, multimode — but J9150D is the current Aruba revision with an updated supported-platform list. Most ArubaOS-Switch platforms accept both; current Aruba CX switches require the D revision. Tell us the switch model and we will confirm which to quote.
Can I use a JD092B in an Aruba switch, or a J9150D in a FlexNetwork switch?
No. The two families check vendor coding against different lists. JD-series optics are for FlexNetwork (Comware) switches; J-series optics are for Aruba switches.
Do you supply coded-compatible Aruba optics?
Yes, as a separate line from the original HPE module and clearly marked as compatible. We never substitute one for the other.
What is the copper SFP for Aruba switches?
J8177D, the Aruba 1G SFP RJ45 T transceiver, for 1000BASE-T links up to 100 m over Cat5e.
