Seamless carbon steel and stainless pipe
CRS PLUS sources seamless pipe for process, utility and pipeline work — ASTM A106 and A53 carbon steel, API 5L line pipe, A333 low-temperature pipe and A312 stainless — from small-bore instrument and drain lines through to header sizes. Pipe is quoted by size, schedule, grade, length and end finish, with mill test certificates.
Pipe we quote
Sourced through the qualified supplier base. Sizes, ratings and grades are shown as ranges; send your bill of materials and every line is quoted against its exact specification.

How pipe is specified
A pipe line states nominal size, wall schedule, standard and grade, manufacturing route and length — for example "NPS 4 Sch XS, seamless, ASTM A106 Gr B, 6 m, BE". Wall thicknesses for carbon steel follow ASME B36.10M (Sch 40, 80, 160, STD, XS, XXS) and for stainless ASME B36.19M (Sch 10S, 40S, 80S). Ends are plain (PE), bevelled for welding (BE) or threaded and coupled (T&C).
Pipe is produced in single random (about 6 m) and double random (about 12 m) lengths. Where a bill of materials states the total length required on a line, the quotation shows the number of mill lengths supplied to cover it.
A106, A53 or API 5L
ASTM A106 is seamless-only and is the default for refinery and process piping, including elevated temperature service. ASTM A53 covers seamless (Type S) and electric-resistance-welded (Type E) pipe for general, structural and lower-temperature utility service. API 5L is the line pipe standard for transmission and gathering; Gr B pipe is frequently certified to all three standards at once (A106 B / A53 B / API 5L B PSL1).
Documentation and supply terms
- Mill test certificate
- EN 10204 3.1 certificate for every line, traceable to the heat number marked on the item. EN 10204 3.2 with third-party witness on request.
- Marking
- Material grade, size, rating and heat number marked on each item to the governing standard (MSS SP-25 for valves, flanges and fittings).
- Inspection
- Positive material identification, dimensional checks and third-party inspection arranged where the project specifies them.
- Sour and low-temperature service
- NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 hardness limits and impact testing applied where the piping class calls for them, and stated on the certificate.
- Quotation
- Each line states the standard, grade, origin, lead time and certification before you commit. Listing does not indicate stock held by CRS PLUS.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Sch 80 and XS?
Up to NPS 8, Schedule 80 and XS (extra strong) have the same wall thickness. Above NPS 8 they diverge, and XS stays at 0.500 in while Sch 80 increases. The same applies to Sch 40 and STD up to NPS 10.
Can pipe be supplied dual or triple certified?
Yes. Carbon steel seamless pipe is commonly certified to ASTM A106 B, ASTM A53 B and API 5L B together, which allows one item to satisfy several piping classes. The mill certificate lists every standard the pipe meets.
What do SRL and DRL mean?
Single random length (SRL) is pipe supplied in lengths of roughly 5 to 7 m; double random length (DRL) is roughly 11 to 13 m. Fixed or cut lengths can be quoted where needed.
Is seamless pipe required for every line?
No. The project piping class decides. Seamless is typical for hydrocarbon, high-pressure and high-temperature service; welded pipe is often acceptable for utilities, water and larger diameters.
What documentation comes with the pipe?
An EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate with chemistry, mechanical properties, hydrostatic test and NDE results, traceable to the heat number stencilled on each length.
