Quoting from the material requisition
Tank fabricators issue a material requisition or bill of materials grouped by trade — plates, pipes, forgings, fittings, gaskets, fasteners and structure. CRS PLUS quotes each section line by line against the stated standard and grade, and confirms where a mill length or plate size has to be rounded up to cover the quantity required. Lead time, origin and certification are stated per line, and the package can be consolidated for a single shipment.
Standards behind a tank package
Welded atmospheric storage tanks for oil and petroleum products are designed to API 650, and low-pressure tanks to API 620; inspection, repair and alteration follow API 653. Tank venting is sized to API 2000 / ISO 28300, and flame arrestors on vents are certified to ISO 16852. The material grades on the requisition follow from the tank design, the stored product and the design temperature, and the quotation carries them through unchanged.
Documentation and supply terms
- Mill test certificate
- EN 10204 3.1 certificate for every line, traceable to the heat number marked on the item. EN 10204 3.2 with third-party witness on request.
- Marking
- Material grade, size, rating and heat number marked on each item to the governing standard (MSS SP-25 for valves, flanges and fittings).
- Inspection
- Positive material identification, dimensional checks and third-party inspection arranged where the project specifies them.
- Sour and low-temperature service
- NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 hardness limits and impact testing applied where the piping class calls for them, and stated on the certificate.

Frequently asked questions
Can you quote a full storage tank material requisition?
Yes. Send the requisition or bill of materials as issued by the tank designer. Every section — plate, pipe, flanges, fittings, gaskets, bolting, structural steel and venting — is quoted line by line in one offer.
Which plate grade is used for a storage tank shell?
API 650 permits several grades. ASTM A36 and A283 Gr C are common for smaller and lower-stress tanks; A516 Gr 70 is used where higher strength or better toughness is required. The tank design calculation sets the grade and thickness for each course.
Do you supply the vents and flame arrestors for the tank?
Yes. Pressure-vacuum relief vents, emergency vents and flame arrestors are quoted with the material package, sized to the tank venting calculation.
Is CRS PLUS a tank fabricator?
No. CRS PLUS supplies materials and equipment to fabricators, contractors and operators. Fabrication and erection are carried out by the client or its contractor.
What certification comes with a tank package?
Each line is supplied with its own EN 10204 3.1 certificate — plate, pipe, forgings, fittings and bolting — so the fabricator can compile the tank data book. Third-party inspection can be arranged where required.
