Ericsson outdoor enclosures — Enclosure 6150, 6140, 6130 and the RBS 6000 cabinets

The Enclosure 6150 is the most requested single cabinet we handle — the current enquiry is for a lot of eighteen, new, complete with heat exchanger, nine-slot rectifier frame and monitoring unit — and it is bought alongside the smaller 6140 and 6130, the US-specification 6160, the B158 / B160 battery cabinets and the previous-generation RBS 6101 / 6102 macro cabinets that the enclosures replaced in new shipments. This page lists the family with dimensions, user space, climate and power ratings from Ericsson's product descriptions, the dealer product numbers under which the cabinets trade (300/BFM 107 206/1 for the 6150), and what a complete build includes.

How to read these part numbers

RBS 61xx are outdoor macro cabinets of the RBS 6000 generation — 6101 single bay (700 × 700 × 1450 mm), 6102 dual bay (1300 × 700 × 1450 mm) — with the radios and baseband inside the cabinet. RBS 62xx are indoor and are not listed here. Enclosure 61x0 is the newer site-enclosure family that houses baseband, transport and power and feeds remote radios: 6130 is the smallest, with no internal battery; 6140 is mid-size (8–21U); 6150 the largest, 20 kW class with two battery strings; 6160 the UL-listed North American build. Enclosure B1xx (B158, B160, B174) are battery cabinets. Within the 6150, "8 kW ST" and "20 kW ST" give the rectifier power to load, "Full 19-inch Rack" is the 24U variant, HEX is the standard heat exchanger and HEX/AirCon adds an air conditioner on the battery compartment. Dealer product numbers run in the BFM 107 xxx/1 series; "AGO" appears on dealer listings for equipped cabinets and is not defined in any Ericsson source, so the configuration label is checked rather than inferred.

Ordering notes

Name the enclosure and the variant — 6150 8 kW, 20 kW, HEX or HEX/AirCon, full rack — and whether it is required equipped or as a housing. State the AC supply (single, two or three phase), the number of rectifier modules to be fitted (the 6150 carries up to nine 3 kW PSU slots), the battery strings and capacity, and the equipment to be housed in U. Give the plinth or base-frame dimensions of the existing site where the cabinet is a replacement: the 6150 footprint is 800 × 700 mm and does not match an RBS 6102 plinth. Condition is stated per quotation — new, new surplus or refurbished with the cosmetic grade — and where a destination does not admit used network equipment we quote new. No list price is published; quotations are per cabinet with the configuration itemised — housing, climate unit, rectifier frame, modules, monitoring, batteries, plinth — and are prepared landed to the destination city where requested, with packed dimensions and weight stated for the freight line.

Lifecycle and availability

Ericsson's product summary states that the ERS enclosures 6130, 6140, 6150 and 6160 replace RBS 6000 cabinets in new shipments; the Enclosure 6150 HEX/AirCon has been marketed as the current multi-purpose active-cooling cabinet since 2018. RBS 6101 and 6102 are therefore secondary-market items, supplied refurbished and graded. RBS 2106 and 3106 are GSM and WCDMA-era cabinets supplied for site expansion or swap-out only. No official end-of-sale notice was found for any model; status is confirmed per quotation.

Enclosure 6150 — what a complete cabinet includes

A complete Enclosure 6150 as quoted by CRS PLUS is the power-compartment main frame, the rack mounting brackets, the battery-compartment box and battery fixing brackets, grounding busbar, waterproof cable entry, cabin LED light and door contact, the heat exchanger with dual DC fans, the nine-slot rectifier frame, the power monitoring unit and the AC surge protector. Rectifier modules and batteries are quoted as separate lines so that the buyer chooses the count and the chemistry. Where a dealer substitutes the rectifier frame or ships without the monitoring unit the quotation says so.

The 8 kW ST build gives 13U of user space with up to four rectifiers; the 20 kW ST gives 9U with up to nine; the full 19-inch rack build gives 24U and is used where the cabinet is mainly racking baseband and transport. All three are −48 V DC with two battery strings of up to 210 Ah each, except the full-rack build which takes batteries externally.

RBS 6102 or Enclosure 6150 when replacing a site cabinet

The RBS 6102 is the older dual-bay outdoor macro: 1300 × 700 × 1450 mm, about 330–390 kg fully equipped, with up to twelve radio units and the baseband inside. The Enclosure 6150 is the current site enclosure: 800 × 700 mm footprint, 223–276 kg, holding baseband, 20 kW DC power and batteries and feeding up to 21 remote radios over DC and CPRI. They are not interchangeable footprints and they assume different radio architectures — in-cabinet radios against main-remote — so the choice follows the site design rather than the cabinet price. Send the current configuration and the quotation sets out both options.

Equipment condition

New — factory-sealed, supplied through the manufacturer's own channel or a qualified distributor, with full manufacturer warranty.

New surplus — unused factory stock, original packaging where available, sourced from decommissioned projects or distributor inventory. Manufacturer warranty may have lapsed; CRS PLUS warranty applies.

Refurbished / tested — previously deployed equipment, cleaned, firmware-checked and functionally tested against the manufacturer's specification before shipment. CRS PLUS warranty applies.

Condition is confirmed in writing on every quotation before you commit to an order.

Warranty

Warranty terms vary by item, by condition and by the supplier the equipment is sourced from. They are stated in writing on the quotation, per line item, before you commit to an order.

Where equipment is supplied new through the manufacturer's own channel, the manufacturer's warranty applies and is passed to you.

Send us the part numbers you need and we will confirm warranty terms alongside availability, condition, lead time and price.

Refurbished stock — how it is graded and what ships

New and refurbished units are quoted side by side. For refurbished stock, the quotation answers the questions buyers ask first, in the order they ask them.

Is the housing new?
Cosmetic grade. Every refurbished unit is graded A, B or C and the grade is written on the quotation. Grade A: housing free of marks visible at arm's length, no discolouration, original labels intact. Grade B: light scuffing or minor marks, no cracks, labels legible. Grade C: visible wear or discolouration, functionally identical to A and B, offered only where the buyer has accepted it. Where an enclosure has been replaced with a new housing the quotation says so; a re-cased unit is never described as new.
Is it fully working?
Test coverage. Cabinets and enclosures are inspected and function-tested before dispatch: door seals and gaskets, locks and hinges, the heat exchanger or air conditioner run under power, fans and heaters, the rectifier shelf and monitoring unit powered up, busbars, breakers and surge protection checked, and the housing inspected for corrosion and impact damage. The scope of the test is stated on the quotation.
With plinth, keys and internal fittings?
What ships with the cabinet. The quotation lists exactly what ships: base frame or plinth, keys, rack mounting brackets, battery trays or fixing brackets, grounding busbar, cable-entry plates, cabin lighting and door contact, the climate unit, the rectifier frame and monitoring unit where fitted, and whether rectifier modules and batteries are included. Units are crated or palletised for sea or air freight and the packed dimensions and weight are stated for freight quotation.
What warranty?
Warranty on used stock. Warranty on refurbished equipment covers functional failure under normal use and is stated per line item on the quotation — the period, what it covers and how a return is handled — before you commit to an order.
Is the firmware in English, and is it locked?
Firmware state. The language of the shipped firmware and whether a unit is carrier-branded or carrier-locked is declared per lot. Where English firmware is required it is confirmed on the unit before dispatch, not assumed from the model number. Locked or operator-branded stock is declared as such and never described as open.
What about licences on a used OLT?
Licence state (OLT chassis and control boards). Second-hand OLT chassis and control boards are quoted with their licence and software state as received, stated on the quotation. CRS PLUS does not represent used chassis as carrying transferable licences; software licensing remains between the buyer and the manufacturer or integrator, and we recommend confirming the licensing position before relying on a used chassis for a live rollout.

Frequently asked questions

Both cool the equipment compartment with a 2350 W heat exchanger rated −33 to +50 °C. HEX/AirCon adds a 300 W DC-fan air conditioner on the battery compartment, rated to +55 °C, which suits hot sites where batteries would otherwise age early. The configuration label on the cabinet states which one a used unit is.
