Vertiv, Delta and Eltek outdoor cabinets — ECM3, OutD and Outdoor Type 3 / Type 4

Where a buyer does not need a Huawei or Ericsson housing, the vendor-neutral cabinets from Vertiv, Delta and Eltek carry any 19-inch, −48 V DC baseband, transport or radio equipment with an embedded power system and battery strings. Vertiv's ECM3 is the closest like-for-like to an Enclosure 6150 class cabinet, Delta's OutD range runs from pole-mount enclosures to 42 kW site cabinets, and Eltek's Outdoor Type 3 and Type 4 bodies are configured with Flatpack2 rectifier systems per order. A Vertiv NetSure 731 power cabinet set has also been quoted recently from the used market. The table lists the models with dimensions, user space, climate options and power ratings from the vendors' datasheets.

How to read these part numbers

Vertiv ECM3 is sold as ECM3-14 (750 × 750 × 1685 mm, 31U) and ECM3-18 (900 × 900 × 2085 mm, 40U), each in single, double or triple bays bolted together; the embedded power is NetSure 731 — A41-S7 for 200 A or A61-S2/S3 for 300 A — with the M530S controller. NetSure X701 two-bay and three-bay enclosures are North American NEMA builds. Delta designations read ESOA or ESOF, a three-digit number and a three-letter cabinet variant — ESOA300-HAV, ESOF006-EBB — where ESOA series state capacity in kW and ESOF series mostly in amperes, and the last three letters separate cooling and compartment variants (fan, heat exchanger, DC air conditioner, thermoelectric). Delta publishes dimensions as W × H × D. Eltek Outdoor Type 3 and Type 4 are cabinet bodies: Type 3 comes in five heights (1.2–2.2 m, 21–44U, 700 mm wide), Type 4 in 1.5 m (27U) and 2.0 m (39U), and the power system fitted into them is given a configured part number of the form CTxxxxxx.nnnn. Eltek has been part of Delta Electronics since 2015.

Ordering notes

Give the equipment to be housed in U and its heat load in watts, the DC load in amperes, the battery autonomy, the AC supply and the ambient range; the climate option is chosen from those — ECM3 heat exchanger 180 W/K or 1500 W air conditioner, Eltek Type 4 fan filter 1700 or 2500 W, Delta HAV air conditioner 1200–1333 W — and the rectifier count follows the load. Weights published by all three vendors exclude rectifier modules and batteries, so specify both for freight. Certificates and country approvals for the destination are requested per configuration because ratings differ by climate option. No list price is published; quotations are per cabinet with the configuration itemised — housing, climate unit, rectifier frame, modules, monitoring, batteries, plinth — and are prepared landed to the destination city where requested, with packed dimensions and weight stated for the freight line.

Lifecycle and availability

Vertiv ECM3, NetSure X701 and the Outdoor Cabinet Single are current catalogue items; the ECM3 product pages are partner-restricted and availability is confirmed per quotation. Delta OutD series pages are live for more than thirty ESOA / ESOF variants. Eltek Outdoor Type 3, Type 4 and the Flatpack2 36 kW outdoor system remain live products under the Eltek brand within Delta. None of the three vendors publishes end-of-life dates on these pages.

Choosing between a branded ODM cabinet and an OEM original

A vendor-neutral cabinet suits a site where the radio vendor may change, where the buyer wants a single cabinet standard across Huawei, Ericsson and Nokia sites, or where a used OEM enclosure is not acceptable to the operator. What it does not provide is the OEM's site monitoring integration: Vertiv M530S and Eltek Smartpack controllers expose dry contacts and SNMP rather than the Huawei or Ericsson management protocol, so alarm mapping is confirmed at design stage. Where the site is an existing OEM footprint, the plinth dimensions decide — ECM3-14 is 750 × 750 mm, ECM3-18 900 × 900 mm, Eltek Type 3 700 × 770 mm, Delta ESOA300 800 × 800 mm.

Equipment condition

New — factory-sealed, supplied through the manufacturer's own channel or a qualified distributor, with full manufacturer warranty.

New surplus — unused factory stock, original packaging where available, sourced from decommissioned projects or distributor inventory. Manufacturer warranty may have lapsed; CRS PLUS warranty applies.

Refurbished / tested — previously deployed equipment, cleaned, firmware-checked and functionally tested against the manufacturer's specification before shipment. CRS PLUS warranty applies.

Warranty

Warranty terms vary by item, by condition and by the supplier the equipment is sourced from. They are stated in writing on the quotation, per line item, before you commit to an order.

Where equipment is supplied new through the manufacturer's own channel, the manufacturer's warranty applies and is passed to you.

Refurbished stock — how it is graded and what ships

New and refurbished units are quoted side by side. For refurbished stock, the quotation answers the questions buyers ask first, in the order they ask them.

Is the housing new?
Cosmetic grade. Every refurbished unit is graded A, B or C and the grade is written on the quotation. Grade A: housing free of marks visible at arm's length, no discolouration, original labels intact. Grade B: light scuffing or minor marks, no cracks, labels legible. Grade C: visible wear or discolouration, functionally identical to A and B, offered only where the buyer has accepted it. Where an enclosure has been replaced with a new housing the quotation says so; a re-cased unit is never described as new.
Is it fully working?
Test coverage. Cabinets and enclosures are inspected and function-tested before dispatch: door seals and gaskets, locks and hinges, the heat exchanger or air conditioner run under power, fans and heaters, the rectifier shelf and monitoring unit powered up, busbars, breakers and surge protection checked, and the housing inspected for corrosion and impact damage. The scope of the test is stated on the quotation.
With plinth, keys and internal fittings?
What ships with the cabinet. The quotation lists exactly what ships: base frame or plinth, keys, rack mounting brackets, battery trays or fixing brackets, grounding busbar, cable-entry plates, cabin lighting and door contact, the climate unit, the rectifier frame and monitoring unit where fitted, and whether rectifier modules and batteries are included. Units are crated or palletised for sea or air freight and the packed dimensions and weight are stated for freight quotation.
What warranty?
Warranty on used stock. Warranty on refurbished equipment covers functional failure under normal use and is stated per line item on the quotation — the period, what it covers and how a return is handled — before you commit to an order.
Is the firmware in English, and is it locked?
Firmware state. The language of the shipped firmware and whether a unit is carrier-branded or carrier-locked is declared per lot. Where English firmware is required it is confirmed on the unit before dispatch, not assumed from the model number. Locked or operator-branded stock is declared as such and never described as open.
What about licences on a used OLT?
Licence state (OLT chassis and control boards). Second-hand OLT chassis and control boards are quoted with their licence and software state as received, stated on the quotation. CRS PLUS does not represent used chassis as carrying transferable licences; software licensing remains between the buyer and the manufacturer or integrator, and we recommend confirming the licensing position before relying on a used chassis for a live rollout.

Frequently asked questions

ECM3 ships with the embedded NetSure 731 power frame and controller, with rectifier modules specified per order. Delta OutD cabinets are sold with Delta rectifier shelves sized to the series capacity, rectifiers specified separately. Eltek Type 3 and Type 4 are bodies into which a Flatpack2 or Smartpack system is configured and given its own part number. In every case the quotation lists the frame, the modules fitted and the batteries as separate lines.
